The original Dry Ice machine, creating a carpet of low smoke that sticks to the floor!

A Le Maitre Peasouper hire provides the industry-standard dry ice low fog machine, trusted worldwide for producing a dense, atmospheric carpet of low-lying smoke that hugs the floor and dissipates cleanly without rising. This is the go-to solution for weddings, theatre, concerts, TV & film, fashion shows, corporate events, and live productions where a classic, elegant low fog effect is required—without the nuisance of smoke rising.

The Peasouper uses water and real dry ice to create a true low-lying fog. The effect stays close to the ground, forming a smooth, rolling layer of smoke that looks stunning under stage lighting.

The perfect low smoke hire, the Peasouper dissipates cleanly and does not rise or linger in the air, making it a cost-effective favourite for first dances at weddings and “walking on clouds” moments. An industry-standard dry ice machine with a rugged, portable build, it is ready for touring and event use. The dry ice chamber holds up to 9kg, providing approximately 5 minutes of continuous low fog. The machine can be loaded twice, delivering a total of 10 minutes of effect before needing to reheat.

Heat-up time is approximately 20–25 minutes, and output is controlled via a four-step adjustable flow handle. Ducting is also available, allowing the machine to be hidden backstage during operation. Typical floor coverage is approximately 150m², depending on venue conditions.

As a dry ice machine, the Peasouper requires the safe handling and use of dry ice. This is a normal and expected part of operating professional low fog systems, and our team can advise on best practice, required quantities, and safe operation as part of your hire. Dry ice is not supplied as standard and is usually sourced locally to your venue—please get in touch for advice.
